Problems with Site 155 Blossom Touring Park
Polocross his just emailed me to sy that he had tried to book a pitch at site 155 Blossom Touring Park - only to be told by Management that due to Council Regulations that site was no longer able to accept larger vehicles.

I will follow up this information as soon as I can but in the meantime, I suggest you do not aim to go to Blossom Touring Park.

Dick
Southview Leisure Park, Martock, Somerset
Des and Anne Booth visited Southview over Christmas in their 40ft RV and reported that they had a good time overall, had a little problem actually getting onto the pitch but in general the site was well worth the visit.
Southview was in the old Big Pitch Guide (site 32) but the management had asked us to remove them from the Guide for about a year so that they could re-develope the site with a view to improving the RV pitches. Unfortunately they are having a bit of a problem with the 'Planning Authorities' about their new entrance/exit - the planners seem to think that big motorhomes can bend in the middle in order to get around tight, sharp corners!
I telephoned Southview to ask if they were ready yet to go back into the book and they said "NO, we still have a lot of work to do and we desperately need the RV Pitches to use as working space - so please leave us out until the end of this year at least."
Southfork have promised me that they will telephone us to say when their RV pitches are ready for occupancy again - like us, they hope it will be sooner rather than later.

Newton Mill Holiday Park
Site 201 in the old Big Pitch Guide 'Newton Mill Holiday Park' has been re-developed and is now known as 'Bath Mill Lodge Retreat'. Needless to say it is now full of wooden lodges and is no longer a touring park.

Hill Cottage Farm Camping and Caravan Site
Site number 185 in the old Big Pitch Guide had one pitch that could take a 40ft RV and it was close to the site facilities block - however that pitch has now been given over as a seasonal pitch to a disabled person - and there are no other pitches suitable for large motorhomes. They have asked to be removed from the Sites Guide.

The Crazy Lane Touring Park
The Crazy Lane Touring Park (Site 209 in the old Big Pitch Guide) is now known as: Meadowview Park - the web site and email address has changed accordingly!

Rimmer House Motorhome Stop Over Site
The old Big Pitch Guide site 197 is now closed and redeveloped as a self-storage site - known as 'Jim-Box'

Wyke Down Farm Camp Site, Andover, Hampshire
My son Robin has just telephoned to say that there is a notice on the entrance to Wick Farm Campsite stating that the site has been sold and is to be re-developed as a 'static-caravan' site with park-homes. No more touring vans accepted at all and it should be removed from the old Guides.

Scott's Farm Camping Site
Arthur and Teresa Reid visited this site in their 36ft Cayman in Sep 2015 and reported: This is a huge site, no club house but close to the sea (10min walk) and close to the shops (10min walk). They do not take bookings - their web site states “Just turn up” - however I phoned ahead and told told them we were 36ft long - just in case! They told us about a huge German touring camper/coach with a pretty big trailer too, this was actually on the site at the time of our visit, which to my mind, indicated that the access and egress was ok for all sizes of RV (this coach is apparently a frequent visitor).

Lincoln Farm Park down-rated from 40ft to 36ft
Alan Barnard’s family visited this site in Sep 2015 in their 37ft RV and reported that the trees within the site had grown to such an extent that he had only just got onto a pitch - and that with the aid of an ex-coach-driver warden and various full-lock manoeuvres. On a better note, though, Alan did say that there was a bus-stop right outside the site that took them directly into Oxford for a day’s outing! Alan is an experienced RV’er so based on his report, I have down-rated this site from 40ft to 36ft maximum.
